Giving French Doors the Treatment
Because French doors swing open, unlike sliding glass doors, they present a particular decorating challenge. How do you maintain your privacy and block the sun while maintaining the doors’ ability to open freely? One idea involves the installation of fabric panels that are affixed to swing arm rods (attached to the hinge-side of each door). These swing arms allow you to rotate the panels away from the window at various angles for light and privacy control. Other times, the best solution is the simplest. In this case, we are talking about the installation of simple sheers on top and bottom rods. Cutting the material twice the width of the window provides a bunching effect that lends a softening touch.
